My girlfriend described this picture as grim.

Her interpretation of it was of a girl who has a psycological pregnancy and is standing in front of the mirror wishing it to true.

Its way better than my interpretation.

;__; Her is a better interpretation. Especially the lining o the ribs make me think she is just really thin but has some hematological disease that causes her stomach to swell like that.

I found that people have very different reactions to this drawing. Never thought it would come out so ambiguous.

Haematological disease? Why not.

it made me think about raped girls who are forced to give birth even if they're so young...
here, they denied a 12 year old girl who was raped by her father the right to have an abortion. when she was at the gesell dome with psychologists, some pro-life people broke into it and showed the little girl those horrible pictures they publish in their pages (wich include malformed babies, false pictures, etc) and telling her she was going to hell and stuff.
recently a 15 year old raped by her stepfather asked for the right to have an abortion and preserve the biological sample to prove the identity of the father. she said she was going to commit suicide if they denied her petition. she's still waiting in the middle of a judicial fight because the doctors of the hospital are afraid of pro-life groups, the judge waited 1 WHOLE MONTH to answer that "it was to late to make an abortion" (which is untrue), and all that crap.
another girl is in prison, because she had to give birth to a baby whose father had raped her. when she saw the baby girl, she saw the father's face in her, and killed her. justice ignored postpartum psychosys, they never tried to help her, they just jailed her.

and so forth.

Those are some horrible stories.

Abortion has only been liberalized in Portugal two years ago (we were one of the last few in Europe to still have it illegal).

Women would do home-made abortions, often killing them, or went to Spain to do it a proper clinic. Changing the law as a matter of public health.

yes, i heard things like a girl throwing herself down the stairs to lose the baby, a girl who shot her own belly... a friend of mine told me about a girl she knew, who got pregnant and made a lot of dangerous things trying to loose the baby. the worst part was that she didn't loose it, but lost a lot of amniotic liquid and probably the baby would be damaged.

it's horrible that some people "defends life", even if the mother is a little girl who can't raise a child and will suffer a lot through the pregnancy, or if she's so poor she knows she can't feed a child (but, when the baby grows and lives in the streets and steals, they ask for repression and want to disabolish death sentence... it's a funny way of being pro-life!!)

These people probably think that once you are born you only have one chance to be "good". If you fail, you are a criminal and should be put away or put down. Then you need more babies to keep the system going, to purify the race and etc etc.

A phantom pregnancy (also known as a false pregnancy, pseudocyesis spurious pregnancy, feigned pregnancy, imaginary pregnancy, hysterical pregnancy) is where you have many of the signs and symptoms associated with pregnancy but are not pregnant.

"I get around 4 phantom pregnancies every year for over 10 years and each time they are more psychologically devastating and more realistic. The hospital consultant I was referred to told me he'd never heard of phantom pregnancies. I'm seeing a clinical psychologist to sort it out but I have had 3 since I've been seeing her."

"I am experiencing what you call "phantom pregnancy". I am having all the symptoms, heartburn, morning sickness, bloating and a missed period. I have taken 3 hpt and a blood test and all of them came up negative. I guess when you worry or wish so much that you can almost "think" yourself to be pregnant."

These "Phantom" pregnancies are brought on by two factors; psychological/physical imbalance's..
I really wouldnt know where to begin how these women feel..

pft if she only knew the pain and suffering pregnancy brings. Not to mention the effects it has on your body.
All in all, it's totally worth it.
